Video Description
One thing I realized about dwelling on the past, is that it makes you feel stuck, lack of growth, upset, and affects the special calling that God has for you. This walk of Christ is filled with ups and downs, but when you specifically focus on your purpose, serving others, learn from your mistakes, or past situations, that’s when you’ll be able to be at peace with where God is taking you. 1. Regret and Guilt: Your past mistakes and sin can lead to regret or guilt. But that’s why the word reminds us that God’s children are a new creation and if you chose to confess your sins, they have already been given. 1 John 1:9 2. Unresolved hurts or bitterness: When you still have past hurts or injustices, it can cause you to feel bitter and have resentment. The Bible encourages us to forgive and let go of negative emotions. Ephesians 4:31-32 3. Fear of the Unknown and Discomfort with Change: When you finally choose to move on from the past, it can involve uncertainty. The Bible tells us to trust in God’s plans and embrace change. Jeremiah 29:11 4. Self-Centeredness: When you focus on past things that didn’t work out, it can lead to self- pity, take your focus off of God’s plans. As believers, we need to feel encouraged to focus on God’s goodness and the new things he is doing for us in our journeys.
