- Welcome to another episode of @bigjonshawaiianadventures We kick off our Maui adventure flying in from Oʻahu and landing at Kahului Airport, ready to explore the Valley Isle! First stop South Maui Fish Company in Kihei for some mouthwatering fish tacos made with fresh, local catch. Kihei’s a sunny little town with laid-back island vibes, and the perfect place to start our trip. After checking into the Residence Inn Maui Wailea, we rested up for the big journey ahead, the legendary Road to Hana. With over 600 curves and dozens of waterfalls, this drive is both stunning and serious. Drive slow, stay safe, and soak in the views! We stopped at Braddah Hutt’s for juicy BBQ ribs, took a dip at the black sand beach in Waiʻanapanapa State Park, and cooled off with coconut ice cream at Coconut Glen’s. The day ended with a sunset at Baldwin Beach Park, one of the most magical we’ve ever seen. The next morning, we checked out of the Residence Inn and made our way to one of Maui’s most luxurious stays Wailea Beach Resort Marriott, Maui. This oceanfront resort is next level aloha, with stunning views, beautiful pools, and incredible hospitality. We checked into a spacious suite with two queen-size beds, a private lanai, sleek modern touches, and all the comforts we needed to recharge for the rest of our adventure. The vibe? Relaxed, upscale, and surrounded by paradise. The next day, we headed way up to Haleakalā National Park to catch one of the most unforgettable sunsets of our lives. Sitting at over 10,000 feet, Haleakalā Crater is the largest dormant volcano in the world. According to Hawaiian legend, this is where the demigod Maui slowed the sun to give his mother more daylight, and standing up there, with the clouds beneath your feet, you truly feel the magic of this sacred place.
